|Directions||Turn off the A1 (Stamford-St. Neots) into Wansford. In the village follow signpost towards Yarwell. In Fotheringhay (4 miles) at T-junction, turn left signposted Oundle to find the site entrance on the left after 100 yards.
If you are approaching from Oundle on the A605, Turn left for Tansorr & Cotterstock. Stay on this road and head to Tansorr this will take you to Fotheringhay. Go over the Rive Nene. Do not take the first entrance on the right this will take you into the Castle Farm Guest House. Site entrance is on the right in the corner after the guest house as the road bends to the Left. CAUTION this is a blind corner. So an alternative route, which I prefer, is after leaving A605 for Tansorr & Cotterstock Turn left to Cotterstock. After leaving the village at the crossroad turn right keep on this road to the T-Junction, Turn Right to Fortheringhay. As you go though the village keep an eye on the left you will pass the village hall in Main Street. Continue pass the pub on your right and pass the church. You will then come to a bad right hand bend in the road. The site entrance in front of you on this bend looks like a dirt track to the left of the guesthouse entrance.
This site is in a lovely location, having beautiful views and walks by the river, which runs along the side of the village.
The local church is an absolute gem of a building and the whole area has direct links with various kings and queens over the centuries. Mary Queen of Scots in particular unfortunately lost her head here at the castle in 1587, aged just 44 years.
This site is a good if you like to canoe, there is easy access into the River Nene from here.
